20 (+2) years tga
anniversary symposion of the typographic society austria

thursday, august 25 to sunday, august 28 2022
raabs an der thaya castle
international and local speakers will talk about type and type development and their technical, design and socio-political aspects. the »symposion« has always been a hedonistic meeting and an international exchange platform far away from business and wages.

we take four days for lectures, discussions, talks and workshops. due to its location, the seclusion of the place – and its reduced infrastructure – proves to be a blessing for focusing on content.

the tga sees itself as a representative of the interests of designers who value typography and have recognized its effectiveness. we offer a forum for typographic excellence and expertise in austria. thanks to our members, the 16 speakers from nine and the five exhibitors from four nations, the workshop leaders Andreas Ortag, Babsi Daum, Shoko Mugikura and Rainer Scheichelbauer, the culinary accompaniment of Boris Kochan, the ambience with the aspects waldviertel, castle raabs and the castle lady Helga and the castle lord Richard Pils, livemusic as well as eierschwammerl and mohnnudel we should succeed also this seventh (twice postponed) time.

travel & accommodation

there will be a tga shuttle service from irnfritz (train station) to raabs. in addition we will arrange carpooling. detailed information will be sent to all symposion participants in time via our raabs mailing list.

you can also use our shuttle service to reach the accommodation in drosendorf castle, where 2-, 3- and 4-bed rooms can be booked through the tga. for those who don't want to party until the early hours of the morning, this is a cheap and comfortable option. please indicate your wishes in this regard when registering, and we will contact you with all further information!

there is also the possibility to stay in your own camping bus below the castle at the thayaufer and to use the sanitary facilities of the castle. (camping in tents on the castle grounds is already fully booked!). we would like to point out that it can get quite cold at night in the waldviertel at the end of august.

at the jufa waldviertel, which is within walking distance from the castle, we were able to pre-book a contingent of double rooms. reservations can be made via email r.raabs@jufahotels.com (code TGA)

in addition, there are various other accommodation possibilities in raabs and the surrounding area – guesthouses, hotels, air-bnb offers. e.g:
www.jufa.eu/hotel/waldviertel/
www.liebnitzmuehle.at

our tga-shuttle will individually drive to accommodations in the surrounding area – please check the possibilities with us before booking.

childcare

thanks to the great idea and funding from glyphs, this time we can offer childcare during the symposion.

the offer will depend on the number and age of the children – please indicate appropriate interest when registering.

scholarships for students

we try to make our symposion as affordable as possible and therefore have not increased our prices for many years. nevertheless, we are aware that even 250 euro is still a lot of money if you don't have it.

this is why this time we offer the possibility for students to apply for scholarships for half or the full symposion price.

if you want, you can buy as many half tickets for students as you like as a sponsor contribution for this scholarship here.

students can apply for scholarships here. as long as money is available, scholarships will be awarded!
